Do you remember when you were a kid, how you could play and play for hours, and then get up the next day and do it all over again? I don't remember spending much time complaining about the pain I was having! Probably because I didn't have much pain... Why was it so easy when we were kids and so hard when we are adults?
On a very simple level it really isn't that hard to understand. Personally, comparing my childhood life to my adult life, there are some pretty obvious facts that jump out at me.
Here are some factors that can contribute to your chronic pain.
1. Poor Diet
2. Emotional Stress
3. Lack of Exercise
4. Lack of Sleep.
And when I think of my childhood, I know I ate better, more regular meals, and far less processed foods. I had very little stress in my life. I was always outside playing and getting exercise. And, almost every night I slept great. Well, no wonder I had less pain. I had very few contributing factors.
And then I became an adult...my diet deteriorated, my stress level increased, I had less time for exercising and playing, and my sleep patterns started becoming interrupted. And for me, where I began to feel my pain was in my lower back.
As I research and understand more of what is at the core of my back pain, I can't help but believe it is totally related to my lifestyle. AND, it is up to me to make that lifestyle better. This has been a journey that will last the rest of my life. And, I am worth it.
I am a subscriber of Dr. Axe and love his tips on living a healthier lifestyle. Recently, I watched a great video that he and Dr. Dan Sullivan did together that was all about how to reduce your chronic pain. I thought it was excellent, and even though I knew and had heard a lot of what they were talking about, I still learned some very valuable and pretty EASY steps to manage my pain better.
