Feet and Leg Problems

Recently, I experienced my first bout of Plantar Fasciitis and realized I was not very empathetic to others who have had it before me, as I didn't really understand what it was. I literally could not walk on my right foot because of the pain. When I went to the doctor, she said sometimes people get it in both feet at the same time. I really couldn't imagine what that must be like. I iced the foot, used some CBD pain cream, took some pain pills, and wore cushioned shoes for a few days and I am happy to say, I think I am passed this first episode of PF...

Because of some other health issues that I have, I also am experiencing almost constant tingling and slight numbness in both my feet and lower legs. I have had some nerve tests done, and more are scheduled. However, I think I have found something that is going to help me, for now, at least. I use the CBD Pain 'Relief' Cream for my back and elbow pain so decided to try it on my legs and feet. I did a test of my feet and legs to see if it would help me with the tingling. At first, I only used it on my right leg and foot. And, I was pleasantly surprised with the difference I felt on my right leg. At this point, the tingling is not painful, however, it is quite annoying. The CBD 'Relief' Cream is the only thing, so far, that I have found that seems to reduce the tingling.

After speaking more with my doctor, she also suggested that I consider a foot/calf massager that may help with both the Plantar Fasciitis issue, as well as the tingling problem. My hope is that something will help with the circulation. I used to be much more active than I am now, so I decided to do some research on my own to see what devices were out there to help me now.

After a fair amount of research and reading lots of reviews, I believe I have found what I hope will be beneficial for me. I found this on Amazon, and it is called 'Cloud Massage Shiatsu Foot Massager'.

I do believe this is somewhat expensive, but it is also on sale periodically, and watching for sales may be beneficial.

Here are a few reviews from buyers (it's always best to read the reviews that say Verified Purchase)

The reviews that were a little negative seemed to revolve around the strength of the massager as some people complained that it actually hurt to use it. For someone that is super sensitive to pain, this might not work for them. Another person was not happy that it did not have a remote with it. They had some mobility issues and that was frustrating for them.

One other observation, it is heavy to move around, and rather large.

The reviews below are 5 star reviews. if you go to the website you can see many more reviews...

Verified Purchase

I bought this as a gift for my mum. She loves it, it works great. We've only had it for a few weeks, so hopefully it will stand the test of time. Be aware, buying from anywhere other than America, the price is significantly more expensive (shipping is probably not 'free', but 'included' in price).

Former Personal Trainer: Very high quality unit. I took a lot of time with research and I'm glad I did. Most units like this are just junk. Not this one. Any proper massage should hurt, as it stretches your muscles. I've had whole machines crack apart before I even felt them. This machine will hurt. It literally turns your feet to rubber, it's that complete and I'm a size 12. If you set the handle for a proper angle on the floor for your feet, you only need pull the bottom up and let it lean on your couch for your calves. Just use your controls upside down. I have 16 inch calves at the widest top and this fits quite comfortably. I'm rehabbing a serious calf injury on both sides, at those very tops, and this is the first thing I've found that offers real relief. It's actually the reason I bought it and what I was looking for. The foot massage is just a bonus to me. Not even a real massage on a table has helped the two upper tears I have. They only make it worse. This doesn't. The power brick doesn't even get warm, if it holds up; I believe this is most probably the best out there you can buy. Like I said, the Real Deal. I highly recommend it.

I just received this massager and love it. Unlike the big upright ones, this one has adjustable positions for working the calves, so I can sit in my recliner and use it, the other one I had required a tall chair. That is worth everything to me and only adds to the comfort. The foot massage is a dream, I have acute spine issues and it affects my feet and legs, the foot massage felt so good I have used it five times and I've only had it two days! The pressure takes some getting used to as the insert states and the rolling massager on my feet was a surprise on just how strong the machine is on the first setting! I doubt I will be using it on a higher setting, nor would I need to. It's so nice to have the heat while the massager is running, very relaxing now that I'm used to it. I'm a larger woman and the leg portion fit me just fine, but I've only used it in a #1 setting. I plan to return and update this review after I've had it a bit and am more adjusted to it.

I shop quite a bit on Amazon and also have the FREE Shipping option, using my Prime membership (I think it is about $99 annually).

However, here's a tip when shopping on Amazon; you can get the free shipping by signing up for Prime Account for 30 days, and then if you don't think you need it, just cancel it before the 30 days expires. If you are shopping online with Amazon over the holidays, it's a great way to get your shipping FREE (just don't forget to cancel it if you no longer need it)

I hope this review of the Foot Massager is helpful...

As we age, it's important to stay in our home as long as we can. However, situations arise that may need a medical device that can be easily used at home.

For an older person, due to their lack of mobility, it may be necessary to watch for sores that may be caused by sitting or reclining too long. When sores do surface, there are a couple of assistive devices that help so the issue doesn't worsen.

A friend of mine recently went to the doctor because of a sore on her backside above her tailbone. It wasn't terrible, but it was starting to bother her more and more. The doctor's first recommendation was to do less sitting and more standing to relieve the pressure on the sore. He also suggested that she get a donut shaped cushion. He did not recommend any particular kind.

After doing some research I found some devices on Amazon that might be worth checking out. Remember to always read the reviews and the 'answered questions' section, next to the reviews. Prices may vary, but I believe the ratings with written reviews are more valuable than the price.

Here is a link where you can review a number of choices and decide which might work best for your situation. See Your Choices Here

"I Have Fallen and Can't Get Up!"

We all have heard or seen those commercials where an older person, usually living alone, falls and can't get back up. The commercial is advertising a device to call for help. And, there is no question that they can be very valuable, especially if there is any injury to the person that fell.

However, what about the person who just doesn't have the strength to get up easily from a chair or bed, and someone is there to help. The helper, especially if they are older, may not have the strength to help them, either.

That is exactly what happened when I was visiting a friend recently when her mother couldn't get out of bed. It took 2 of us (we're no 'spring chickens', either) to get her mom up to a sitting position and then to a standing position. Later, when she was sitting in her recliner, she again had difficulty going from the sitting position to the standing position.

People who have arthritis, back pain or just overall weakness can very easily struggle to get up. And, really, it can happen to any of us. So what is the answer?

As a result of watching my friend's mother get frustrated because she couldn't get up on her own, I began looking for a device that would help with the lifting process. I was pleased to see many options.

My friend decided to order a device for her mother after checking it out, reading the reviews, and asking a few questions on the website. What they ordered was The Liberty Lift Standing Aid. I am very pleased to report that the one she chose has been a blessing for her mother. She doesn't need it often, but during those times that she just needs a little added assistance, it is a great device to have on hand and certainly gives the family some peace of mind, knowing it is available, if needed.

The aging process is something we all face. And, we are fortunate these days, that there are so many products available to make that process a little less painful.
