My Mobile Phone Choice is the Apple iPhone
Seniors, probably more than any other group need a reliable, easy to use, easy to understand mobile phone. Whatever mobile phone you have, it will be to the owner's benefit to have their other devices easily available to connect. And here's why---when you transition from one device to another, it's best to be able to see the same data on both devices easily. If you get an email from a family member but you can't find it because you don't know which device it came on, it can be very frustrating. All Apple devices can easily be synced. On the iPhone, any apps you have added to the phone, can easily be added to your other devices through iCloud.
When I use my iPhone with the GPS App, I not only use the navigation app through my phone, I also have my Apple Watch connected and I receive the same info on my watch. It will vibrate when it is time to make a turn, which is helpful in case I don't hear or see the directions on the iPhone
As we age, we may have more difficulty seeing and hearing. Nowadays, our technology can be a huge asset in that area. I use ear buds (called AirPods) with my iPhone. I place them in my ears and they connect directly to my iPhone through BlueTooth. This allows me to use my iPhone completely hands free.
When I need to make a call, and I have the AirPods connected, all I need to do, is tap them and ask SIRI to call the person I need to reach. That is also true of sending an iMessage. If you need to move around during the call, you don't even have to carry your phone with you. I can actually go into another room in the house and not miss a call. If I were to fall with my AirPods in, I again can tap the AirPods and ask Siri to call 911. If your iPhone is not available and you get messages, SIRI can even read your messages to you.
Apple AirPods are the ones I use, and I love them.
My iPhone has a great camera on it, for selfies, portraits, and landscape photos. Very clear picture and easy to use. The security on this phone is very good and the Apple Company takes the security of all of their products very seriously.
There are many choices, sizes, colors, and models available. My favorite part of Apple Products is how easily they are synced with any other Apple product that I have. Once I learned how to use one device, many of the other devices have the same or very similar layout and makes it easier to go from one device to another. To be fair, that is probably true when you buy Android devices, as well. The App Store has thousands of valuable Apps (short for applications) that you can add to your phone that range from health apps, financial apps, business apps and everything in between, including lots of games.
Disadvantages of the iPhone:
1. Price-iPhones tend to be more expensive than competing mobile phones
2. Battery life of the iPhone (that is improving some)
3. Hard to find them 'on sale'
THE TOP 6 ADVANTAGES THAT IPHONE HAS OVER ANDROID DEVICES
1. Consistency and Ease of Use
2. Variety of Accessories and the Apple Store
3. Accessibility and Settings
4. Microsoft Office 365 Support
5. Less Unnecessary Features
6. Less Security Breaches
You can purchase iPhones at a number of stores (SAM's, Costco, Best Buy, Apple Store, and other retailers) ALWAYS check out the return policy, and warranties. I sold one I owned on Marketplace through Facebook. Always, be very careful to clear all of your personal information from your device when you are selling it.
Here are some other Apple Products that you may be interested in checking out. These are Amazon Products, always compare prices, shipping, return policies, etc.
(these items are more likely to be on sale than the iPhone)
*Apple has some great support and also has classes that you can sign up for to learn how to use your new devices. Sometimes there are some cost involved and depending on where you live, there may be restrictions due to Covid-19. Check your local Apple Stores for more information
